Harmonizing Force Peaks and Chainring Position

Every rider has a unique pedal stroke, with their maximum torque peak occurring at a specific angle during the downstroke (usually between 85° and 110°). Standard circular chainrings do not account for this peak, maintaining identical resistance throughout the cycle.

Rotor Q-Rings utilize an oval design to maximize the gear ratio at your torque peak and minimize it at the dead spots. Finding the exact Q-Ring mounting orientation (OCP Position) requires knowing your personal Optimum Chainring Angle (OCA).

This Connect IQ data field brings this mapping directly onto your handlebars. It records your average OCA during segments, helping you adjust your physical chainring setup to maximize mechanical advantage.

Mounting Setup Guide

  1. Add Rotor OCA & OCP to your Garmin activity page.
  2. Conduct a steady 15-minute effort at tempo intensity.
  3. Note your **Average OCA** readout in degrees.
  4. Use Rotor's setting guide to align the Q-Ring bolt position with your recommended OCP number.
